This page explains how to request deletion of your CardScope account, what data is permanently removed, what is temporarily retained, and for how long.
You have two ways to request account deletion:
Deletion is a two-stage process to allow for recovery if the request was made in error:
| Data | Action | When |
|---|---|---|
| Account credentials (hashed email, hashed password) | Permanently deleted | Day 30 |
| Display name & profile image | Permanently deleted | Day 30 |
| Your card collection data | Permanently deleted | Day 30 |
| Cloud Sync data (if subscribed) | Permanently deleted | Day 30 |
| Session tokens | Permanently deleted | Day 0 (immediate) |
| Crash logs & error reports | Permanently deleted | Within 90 days |
| Payment / purchase transaction records | Retained — legal requirement | 7 years (UK tax law) |
Payment records (transaction IDs and purchase status) are retained for 7 years as required by UK tax law. These records do not contain your email address, name, or card data — only anonymised transaction identifiers.
CardScope stores your collection locally on your device. Deleting your account on our servers does not remove data from your device. To remove local data, uninstall the CardScope app from your device.
If you cancel your Cloud Sync subscription without deleting your account, your cloud-stored collection data is retained for 90 days after the subscription lapses. You will receive email reminders before data is wiped. Resubscribing within this period fully restores your data.
